HART AND WATTS LEAD WALK OF REMEMBRANCE

Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Jo Hart, of Mountain View, and Calico Rock City Councilman Junior Watts led the fourth annual Walk of Remembrance on Saturday at the Mountain Man Rendezvous and Native American Day. The walk honors those who died along the Trail of Tears. Watts is a tremendous supporter of the Calico Rock Museum and local historian. He is passionate about preserving his Native American ancestry and the history of our community. Hart has been a longtime supporter of Calico Rock.

The fourth annual Mountain Man Rendezvous saw a large crowd over the weekend in Calico Rock. The event, sponsored by the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center, draw about 1,500 people over the three days. On Friday, about 250 students, parents, teachers and volunteers from Calico Rock Elementary School attended the rendezvous. They learned about pioneer living at each camp and participated in games and activities.

calico_rock_image_asp copyThe Mountain Man Rendezvous includes pioneer encampment, Native American dancing, heritage talks, Tomahawk Throws, musket and antique firearm demonstrations, and much more. The rendezvous is held every year on the second weekend of September in beautiful Rand City Park in Calico Rock.
