Community Square Dances at the Ozark Folk Center – Event Date- February 2 – April 12, 2016
Mountain View, Arkansas-Community dances have long been a tradition in the Ozarks. What better way to shake off the winter ho-hums than a lively dance with great music and friends.
These dances are free and open to the public every Tuesday night from 7-9:00 p.m. starting Feb. 2 and run through April12. Dances are held at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in the Bois D’ Arc Building located near lower OFCSP parking lot.
“We have a great group of dancers that are part of our nightly performances during our regular season,” says Music Director Daren Dortin, “We are always looking to add new faces to the group but we welcome anyone who just wants to come and have some fun.”
There will be a few open positions in the OFCSP Dance Department for anyone interesting in joining the team however; this is not a prerequisite for attending the dances. Selections for new dancers will be made at the end of March. There is a specific need for dance callers and single male dancers.
The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Garden, workshops and other special events.
