Don’t let your kids miss out on a great summer adventure at Jacksonport State Park! Make plans for them to attend our Quapaw History & Craft Day Camp in June to experience a selection of the ways of the Quapaw. Each day has a different focus and you can attend just one day or all three!
Day 1 – Daily Lives of Native American Children
Today you will hear the story of the Quapaw who lived along the rivers in Eastern Arkansas. You will learn about their houses, clothing, and the food they gathered, farmed, and hunted in Arkansas.
Day 2 – A Place for Everything
Native Americans along the White River made their own containers. Today you will join others in making and decorating a Quapaw style clay pot, collect shells along the river bank to make something useful.
Day 3 – Building a Healthy Body
On Friday, our campers will learn how to prepare a simple meal over a charcoal fire. The menu includes homemade soup, cornbread, and a surprise dessert.
