Ozark Highlands Radio Announces KSMU as New Affiliate
Mountain View, Arkansas -Ozark Highlands Radio has announced the addition of KSMU in Springfield, Missouri as the programs’ newest public radio affiliate. With the addition of KSMU, Ozark Highlands Radio has grown to include ten affiliate stations in the first seven months on the air. KSMU will begin airing Ozark Highlands Radio on Sunday July 3 at 8:00p.m.
KSMU is the flagship station for Ozark Public Radio and is headquartered on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. The station covers much of southern Missouri with affiliate stations in Branson, West Plains, Mountain Grove, Joplin and Neosho.
“This is our first out-of-state affiliate and is significant” said Ozark Folk Center State Park Superintendent John Morrow. “Ozark Highlands Radio was created to bring a greater awareness to the region as a whole which includes our Ozark friends north of the Arkansas border”. Executive Producer Daren Dortin added, “The music and culture of the Ozarks is alive and vibrant in Springfield and its surrounding communities. Artists like Cindy Woolf, Mark Bilyeu, Big Smith and Blackberry Winter Band have all appeared at the Ozark Folk Center State Park and on Ozark Highlands Radio”.
KSMU News Director and Content Coordinator Scott Harvey said the program is a great fit for their station. “Ozark Highlands Radio has been on our station’s radar for some time now. KSMU shares the label of Ozark Public Radio – so what a great opportunity for our listeners here in the Ozarks to hear from native Ozark musicians as well as contemporary artists of today. It was evident that park staff and show producers had not only put great effort into its performance venues for artists and guests, but had sought the necessary resources and displayed the passion for an equally entertaining listener experience. I’m pleased we’re now able to bring this service to the KSMU audience.”
First run programs air each week on affiliate stations (KSMU, KUAR, KUAF, KASU and KFFB) with archived programs available on iTunes, TuneIn, Google Play and Soundcloud. A complete list of stations and air dates are available at OzarkHighlandsRadio.com.
