Mountain Man Rendezvous This Weekend Sept. 9-10 at Calico Rock
The annual Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held this Friday and Saturday in Rand City Park in Calico Rock. The annual event, sponsored by the Calico Rock Museum , is sanctioned by the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association. “We anticipate the rendezvous to be bigger and better than ever before,” noted museum executive director Gloria Sanders. “The Early Arkansaw Reenactors camp in authentic tents, demonstrate frontier living, and share the history of the early pioneers with those that attend,” she added.
The event includes Tomahawk throws and antique rifle demonstrations, trapping and handmade canoe demonstrations, a talk about the Trail of Trees, the Beyond the Circle Dancers (a Native American troupe from Springfield, Missouri), a stew cook off, and much more. There are events planned for every member of the family.

“A real feature of the event is the Walk of Remembrance which honors those who walked and died on the Trail of Tears,” noted local historian and city council member Junior Watts. Watts has led the walk for several years. The Walk begins at the Calico Rock Museum at 12:00 noon and travels to Rand City Park.
