Southside Schools EAST Students and Tourism Director Float the Polk Bayou in Hopes of Creating Better Access and Awareness
Students from Julie Reardon and Jason Weaver’s Southside High School EAST program recently took a float trip on the Polk Bayou with Kyle Christopher, Tourism Director at the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. With the help of Christopher, students from the EAST program will use their skills to develop, preserve, and promote the Polk Bayou as a great recreation source for local citizens and tourists alike. Adam Garcia of O’Neal Outfitters facilitated the float trip, which began at the White Drive Bridge on Arkansas 69 and ended at the Old Stadium on Stadium Drive. The group took pictures, video, GPS readings and even aerial footage of the bayou that will be used in future marketing and strategic planning efforts.
