Davidsonville Historic State Park will offer free, guided hikes on New Year’s Day as part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative. First Day Hikes offer a great way for families and individuals to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature and welcome the New Year.
Would you like to start the New Year by being more active? If so, come join us at Davidsonville Historic State Park for a guided hike on one of our scenic trails. The first hike will be on the Black River Trail from 10-11:30 a.m. The 1.5 mile trail takes you to the historic Phillips-Reeves Cemetery before winding through the woods and offering pretty views of the river. The second hike will be on Trapper Lake Trail from 2-3 p.m. This is an easy 1 mile loop that circles the lake. Bring your family and friends and walk off all those holiday treats! Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash.
Whether you are a first time visitor to our park or a regular, we hope you will join us January 1 for a healthy start to the New Year. There will be a campfire and free hot chocolate to enjoy at the end of each hike. Feel free to call the park for more details at 870-892-4708. Davidsonville Historic State Park is located on Highway 166, fifteen minutes south of Pocahontas.
