The Calico Rock Museum is hosting a “Pioneer Living” workshop on Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. in Rand City Park.  The workshop will be presented by Drew Turner.  Turner will show his handmade dug out canoe, bows, and talk about the pioneer lifestyle.  The workshop will be free.  Students under that age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Turner’s heart has always been in the 1830’s.  He built his first log cabin at the age of 10 and quickly became an avid hunter, trapper, and craftsman.  He and his brother founded Turner Brother’s Taxidermy in Hattiesburg, Mississippi which has become a hub for sportsmen for hundreds of miles.

Turner handcrafts his own longbows, buckskins, and a giant canoe from a log.
