Batesville Art Gallery.jpWhite Noise & Black Lines, exhibition by Holly Laws and  David Bailin
Please join us for the reception of BAAC’s current exhibition, White Noise & Black Lines, featuring multi-sensory sculptural installations by Holly Laws and large-scale mixed media drawings by David Bailin. The reception will be held THIS FRIDAY, JULY 17 from 5pm-7pm, with a brief artist talk by Laws and Bailin at 6pm.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

Holly Laws is an artist whose work runs the gamut from sculptural objects and multi‐media installations to theater design and puppetry. Laws relocated in 2008 to Arkansas from Providence, Rhode Island to teach Art at the University of Central Arkansas. The sculptures in this exhibition are inspired by the first houses built in Levittown, New York, the quintessential American suburb. Tiny reproductions of the Cape Cod house model, originally designed in 1947, serve as surrogates or place markers for past lives residing within those walls.

David Bailin is an artist working primarily in drawing, who describes drawing as a revision process, “I don’t finish drawings, I exhaust the possibilities in each rendering. I revise and rework and more than likely destroy drawings.” Bailin is currently represented by Koplin del Rio Gallery, Culver City, CA and Boswell-Mourot Fine Arts, Little Rock, AR.
