Calico Rock Museum Announces Release of Old Galatia Book. The story of the Old Galatia Church and Cemetery is told through recorded histories, newspaper stories, tombstones and research. The church building which is on the Arkansas Most Endangered Places list has been an important part of the community since long before it was deeded to the community in 1886. A dedicated group of volunteers is working to save the building.

You Don’t Want to Miss Fun Classes in July and August at Arkansas Craft School! Fiber Artist Antzee Magruder is teaching “Slow Stitch Collage” at the Arkansas Craft School July 14 & 15, 2018. In this course, Antzee leads her students through the creation of highly original fiber art pieces, starting with fabrics as the medium, or support. From there, students learn how to incorporate beads, fabric, buttons and other found objects into unique and beautiful works.

Charlotte Taylor & Gypsy Rain will be performing at the next Arkansas Steel Associates Bluesday Tuesday Concert tonight beginning at 7 p.m. at the Front Street park. Free admission, concessions will be provided by the Downtown Newport Farmers Market. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Frankie’s Place, 306 Front Street.
