Calico Rock Main Street Stairs Under Repair via Community Support

The stairs leading to upper Main Street near the historic bank building and Calico Realty office are being replaced this week with natural stone stairs. The new stairs will be consistent with the same treads and rises, which will bring them up to code and safe. The work is being done by First National Bank of Izard County. All of us within the community thank them for the work they are doing to make upper Main Street more accessible, safer, and put us in a position to continue to grow.
The museum foundation will contract the repairs to the stairs in the middle of upper Main Street near the entrance to the Printing Press Café. These stairs will match the same natural stone used in the new stairs by the old bank. The work is planned for later this winter. The foundation is working with an anonymous donor to complete the work.
These new stairs show the continued investment, by our community, into our Main Street Historic District by the museum foundation, local businesses, and our community supporters.

This work coupled with the planned renovations of the former Don Quixote’s building as a stand-alone art and science center of the Calico Rock Museum shows the growth and potential for the entire historic district.
