Calico Rock Museum News
The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center has completed several improvements to our exhibits. A new Veterans display is now front and center featuring the uniforms from four branches of service in our front window entitled, “Honoring Those Who Served.” The exhibit is now completed and open just in time for Veterans Day.
To help honor those who served, all veterans will receive a FREE ice cream cone for Veterans Day at the Printing Press Café on Wednesday.
The museum has refurbished our exhibit on Sports, Newspapers, Medicine and the Civil War. In the coming weeks, the museum will be refurbishing our exhibits on World War II, the River, the Trading Post, and relocating the Homestead into a new area in the basement.
The museum has also completed some work in the Gwen Murphy Gallery by installing our projector from the ceiling which makes the room more useful for seminars, workshops and other events. We are also finalizing our plans for the new F. Stowe Easton Education Center in the historic Coal House building. Nearly the size of a traditional classroom, the Education Center will allow us to provide educational programming in a dedicated, state-of-the-art facility.
Work should be completed in the coming days on a new exhibit in the front window of the museum entitled, “Under Siege.” We expect this new exhibit will be a fitting tribute for those who served during World War I and World War II on the battlefield and bring our history front and center.
We hope you have a great week and invite you to see these new exhibits very soon!
