Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center Announces Exciting Upcoming Events
The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center has several events planned in the coming weeks that we want to make you aware of:
Back to School:
Calico Rock School will begin on Monday, August 15 (yes, it’s just a week from Monday). Please watch carefully for students in the mornings and afternoons when they will be making their way to and from school.
Hoss-Hair Pullers Tribute:
Dr. H.H. Smith created the Hoss-Hair Pullers in 1926, a musical group that included Bryan Lackey, Owen Hunt, Luther Walker, George Dillard and W.P. McCleary. These local musicians became somewhat famous on national radio after an appearance at a Hot Springs radio station. With them, Calico Rock got her first taste of fame, too. We will honor Dr. Smith and his Hoss-Hair Pullers with a special event on Saturday, August 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will feature champion fiddle player Emily Phillips.
Mountain Man Rendezvous
Our annual Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held exclusively in Rand Park this year on September 9-10. The event will include authentic tents, Tomahawk throwing, knife demonstrations, cooking over the coals, a stew contest (that you can enter), and a BB gun raffle, plus lots of fun and activities. This year, we are pleased to welcome the Beyond the Circle Dancers.

Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour
We are always pleased to support our local artists in their Off the Beaten Path Studio tour. You can link to their page to find more details on this event from our website. The event is September 16-18.
We hope that you will attend this great events. To learn more, visit our website at www.calicorockmuseum.com or call us at 870-297-6100.
