If you’re looking for a unique way to experience the beauty, creativity, and culture of the Arkansas Ozarks, make plans to be in Mountain View on September 12, 13, and 14, 2025 for the 24th Annual Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.
For one special weekend each year, talented local artists open the doors to their private working studios, welcoming visitors to step inside their creative spaces and see where the magic happens. This free, self-guided driving tour takes you through the scenic backroads of the Ozark Mountains, all within a 30-mile radius of the Historic Stone County Courthouse Square in Mountain View.
This year’s event features 32 artists in 24 studios, showcasing both fine and functional art. You’ll find everything from painting, pottery, and sculpture to woodworking, textiles, and jewelry. It’s a chance to meet the makers, watch live demonstrations, and purchase one-of-a-kind creations you won’t find anywhere else.
The Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour is a true grassroots event—organized by working artists and community patrons who share a vision of celebrating local talent, boosting awareness and appreciation for the arts, and highlighting the vital role these artists play in the local economy.

Karin Huffman is an Independence County native who graduated from Cushman High School in 1996. Traveling throughout the state is one of her passions, along with writing about her adventures.
Taking over as travel writer for the Ozark Gateway Region is a dream come true for Huffman who lives in the region with her two daughters, Grace and Stella.
As a family, they enjoy canoeing the Poke Bayou, Salado Creek and the many waterways along the White River in Independence County. Camping and hiking throughout the region is a must for them in the spring and fall as well.
Huffman is an avid nature photographer who will do just about anything to find the perfect waterfall shot, and has visited many in the great state. From Twin Falls and the Richland Creek area in Northwest Arkansas to little known places off the beaten path, waterfalls will be found.
Huffman has been a travel writer for the Eye on Independence Magazine as well as a staff writer for the Batesville Guard, and is looking forward to devoting her time to traveling throughout the eight county region that the Ozark Gateway offers.
