Free Music Roots Concerts Kicks off 2017 Music Season at the Ozark Folk Center State Park

Mountain View, Arkansas – The Ozark Folk Center State Park kicks off the 2017 music season with an evening of free entertainment on Thursday, April 13. Performances from Stone County’s Music Roots students will take center stage, with students playing traditional Ozark songs.

“This is our annual opening night and the event is always well attended” said Music Director Daren Dortin. “It’s a real treat to see these young musicians on stage. It’s a tribute to our area’s musical heritage and the hard work of all the Music Roots instructors and volunteers”.
Doors open to the public at 6:00 p.m. with the show starting at 7:00 p.m. All students who are performing should arrive no later than 5:45 p.m.
Prospective students will have the chance before the concert at 6:00 p.m. to try different instruments, and parents can sign their kids up for next school year. Students who are signed up at the concert will have their first choice of instrument. Students that return their application to the school may not get their first choice. Mountain View campus students MUST sign up in April to be enrolled in the program for the 2017-2018 school year.
Regular season evening concerts begin Friday, April 14 and run through the end of October shows start at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday-Saturday. Over 25 Feature Concerts are scheduled for the 2017 season including performances from Bruce Molsky, Alasdair Fraser, and April Verch among others. Season passes are $75.00 and are valid for all Feature Concerts including select matinee performances in the Craft Village as well as daily admission to the park.
