Independence County Library Announces Naming Sites and Donors  (Posted by Ginger Smith)

 

The Independence County Quorum Court approved the Independence County Library’s naming policy for the new library building. The library’s board chairman, Bill Walmsley, reported to the library board at their regular meeting on June 19 that seven persons and entities had selected naming sites and pledged $249,000 for the library. Only nine naming sites remain.

Those pledging are: Citizens Bank, for the Board Room, $50.000; First Community Bank, for the Children’s Department, $50,000; Mike and Bobbie Low/Midwest Lime Co., Inc., for the Book Store/Gift Shop, $50,000; Ray and Diane Lacroix, for the Circulation Area, $25,000; Lacroix Precision Optics, for the Computer Instruction Classroom, $25,000; Atlas Asphalt/WRM, for the Reading Room, 25,000; Willa Harkey, Bill Walmsley and Tim Weaver, for the Law Library, $24,000.

The library, currently located at 368 East Main in Batesville, will be moving to its new location, The Barnett Building, at 267 East Main in 2018.
