Singer, songwriter, school teacher and Timbo, Arkansas native James Morris was known for promoting the rich musical traditions and cultural pride of Arkansas’ Central Ozark Region. Of course most folks still know him as Jimmy Driftwood. Jimmy penned “The Battle of New Orleans” among other notable tunes and continued to promote Arkansas, Stone County and the traditional music of the Ozarks until his death in 1998.
