The Arkansas Craft School presents Sustainability Week, offering workshops at locations in beautiful rural Stone County. The week will consist of a variety of workshops and lecture presentations on practical affordable ways to live with a lighter footprint in our fragile ecosystem.  Each workshop can be purchased separately or with discounts for more. Our Lunch and Lecture series includes a delicious meal prepared with the health of your body and the Earth in mind.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in learning about sustainable lifestyle choices. Dave and Maria will be opening up their doors to share their beautiful home and property. The talk will include topics such as how to purchase the right land, clearing and fencing, livestock, gardening, living off-the-grid, solar power and water systems for dry land.
Non-toxic and hypoallergenic skincare products can easily be made with items found in your own kitchen, for less than is spent on most commercial brands. In addition, making your own skincare products cuts down on waste in packaging, and on pollution from transport.  
Who wouldn’t want a healthier home with lower utility bills? But weighing the costs and the payoff can be confusing. Learn about low cost methods of insulating your home, reducing utility costs and creating a healthier environment.
By observing the ways groups of people live and work together, we realize that implementing sustainable methods can create an economically stable and diverse community that leaves a minimal carbon footprint.
 Learn about the biology of honeybees and how to best work with them from  a certified Master Beekeeper who started keeping bees more than 40 years ago and has not missed a season since.  Ed is an advocate for sustainability in beekeeping and is committed to working to maintain honeybee populations. He has developed a modified approach of integrated pest management which he is called on to share internationally. 
Greatly admired for living according to his ideal, craftsman, woodsman, writer and activist Owen Rein is offering a tour of his old time woodworking studio, his simple handmade home, and his land. He will share his story, his choices, his reasons and ways of working and living in harmony with the ecosystem of his 40 acres. Owen believes in living simply and off the grid.
Sourdough is akin to magic, and creates a distinctive and delicious bread and pizza dough.  In this one-day class, students will progress through all stages of working with sourdough
