The Lockhouse Orchestra Rocked Salem Civic Center Last Saturday – HUGE SUCCESS!

By Carolyn Lewis:

If you did not attend The Lockhouse Orchestra concert at the new Salem Civic Center in Salem Arkansas Saturday night, you missed a band who does not take a backseat to the top Nashville musicians.  No matter what genre you like, this band could do it—Southern Rock, Motown, Blues, Country and even a couple of Gospel numbers.

Danny Dozier, the leader of the band and an accomplished guitar player who plays a number of different guitars during a show, opened the show with a beautiful solo instrumental rendition of Amazing Grace.  The band quickly picked up the pace with vocals from Penny Wolfe and  Sarah Jo Roark and John Parks on vocals,  guitar and keyboard.  Jerry Bone, one of the top bass players in the country, and Jason Moser on percussion added their unique style to the show. With each number the crowd became more enthusiastic and when John Parks did Darius Rucker’s hit song “Wagon Wheel,” the Salem Civic Center began to rock. The harmony of Sarah Jo, Penny and John on the Beatles’ numbers was great, and Sarah Jo filled the dance floor with her rendition of Little Big Town’s Girl Crush.  The night was filled with the music of Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, and some Johnny Cash.

Blues singer Al Corte joined the band for a great Ray Charles number.  Corte produced the concert for the Fulton County Fair Association.  The concert was billed as “Put It On The Map” to introduce the new Salem Civic Center to the area which was completed by the City of Salem in July.  Musicians and Sound and Light Technician Michael Payne talked about the great acoustics in the Civic Center and said it was ideal for concerts.

CenturyLink was the presenting sponsor for The Lockhouse Orchestra Concert .  Other sponsors were: Dairy Queen of Salem, Dr. David Kauffman, Bank of Salem, Welch Couch and Company, P.A., Barker Funeral Home, and Shaver Plumbing and Hardware.  Media sponsors were Radio Station KWOZ, Radio Station KTLO and The Boot, Hometown Radio Station KSAR-KOOL 104 – The River, K-Kountry 95 and the Train, Radio Station KFFB, Areawide Media, and Pacesetting Times.

(I was sad I couldn’t attend this concert, they are all my friends and I think they are some of the greatest of the greatest entertainers/musicians/singers.  I hope to catch them when they perform again. Meantime, be sure and look for events at the new Salem Civic Center.  They have a great place for events with a wonderful concession stand, PA system, comfortable seating, and there just isn’t any excuse for not attending all their events.  See you there!
