Volunteer Cleanup Day and Potluck at Ozark Folk Center State Park March 26th!

Mountain View, AR – Want to spend a day with family and friends and find out what is new at the Ozark Folk Center State Park? Join us for our Volunteer Cleanup Day on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Our volunteer cleanup day combines the energy of spring fever and the spring cleaning urge, with the joy of seeing folks you haven’t seen all winter,” said Jeanette Larson, Craft Director at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. “Volunteers come from far and wide to help us put the finishing touch on our park before we open. We’ve had folks from Colorado, Maryland, Oregon and Louisiana chipping in to scrub walls, paint window and weed gardens right next to our neighbors from down the street. It’s a lot of fun.”

Some of the projects are planned, like scrubbing the outside of every window in the village, dusting the School House or planting the garden around some of the craft workshops. Some volunteers run drinks, tools and messages to other helpers. Musicians who want to practice and warm up their acts after the long winter are welcome to jam on the outdoor stage and add energy to the event.

“This is a chance for you to spend time being part of the Ozark Folk Center State Park family,” said Larson. “If you’ve never been to the Folk Center, this will be a chance to find out what it’s about and share in the start of a great new season. If you are a part of the Folk Center history, see what’s new and catch up on what’s happening this year. Come be a part of the community spirit that the Center was founded to preserve and perpetuate on Saturday, March 26.”

Potluck is scheduled for noon on the outdoor Picnic Pavilion. Bring enough food to share and your own plates and utensils. Volunteers will meet and sign in the Administration Building.
